CHATEAU DE LA RESLE, CHABLIS
CHATEAU DE LA RESLE - CHABLIS
DISCOVERED BY SHEER CHANCE
We sometimes book the ferry to France from Ireland and book nothing but our first night’s hotel to get us started. It’s not the type of holiday that suits everyone, but we love the adventure that these type of breaks take you on.
A bit like nights out and house parties, the unexpected ones tend to be the best.
Chateau De La Resle is like that one party where you make lifelong friends and never forget it.
The chateau is a private home and unlike any other hotel, you won’t find a television or radio here.
Listed in the Design Hotel Directory, the chateau opens for set times throughout the year and has only 6 bedrooms open to the public.
You can feel the history of the place, when you walk the worn flat steps and hallways in to the chateau. Check out the original antique keys to your room! Of course you’re not allowed to take them off the premises.
The current owners even make their own wine and invites local Michelin Star chefs to cook for their guests on set evenings. The feel of the place is so luxurious - you relax quickly even though you’re extremely privileged to be sharing someone’s private home.
The owners have a fantastic eye for design and a taste for modern art, though they are keen not to take away the historic look and feel of the place. You can find pieces dotted around the grounds and inside the many rooms too.
An hour’s drive south of Paris, the Chateau is just outside the historic city of Auxerre. Ten minutes form Chablis, with its fabulous wine making history and farmers markets, there is plenty of relaxed days-out to enjoy.
We promise you will enjoy NOT having a TV on holiday. Falling asleep to the sound of owls and the odd wild bore has a certain charm about it. We could get used to it.
Just outside Chablis is this fantastic UNESCO world heritage site, Fontenay Abbey. Founded in the 12th Century, you’ll be blown away by the history and how photogenic the entire area is.
Burgundy, Chablis and beyond. Every village will have vineyards to visit, cheese to sample and fresh pastries to graze on. Bread cheese and some of the finest wine in the world.
What’s not to love?
Beside the pool area is the chateau’s private dining area. Serious kitchen envy! On warm summer evenings, tables are set for the handful of lucky guests staying, and the finest Michelin quality food is served at dusk.
A chill out break, a foodie getaway or just something special for that special someone in your life. Chateau De La Resle has everything in spades, including 6 star luxury.
